For future reference for those who wishes to distribute this mod or modified it and use it on another bus, You are free to do so but PLEASE INCLUDE CREDIT to the person who's script which it is originally based off of!! I have noticed that there are not one, not two, but several add on buses which were released which contains several of my mods or other people's scripts or other modifications which never received any type of credit.
[Verison 1.01] Parallel Hybrid transmission Script (Based off of Allison Ep40)

Slight bump....
krtz07 did you get round to finishing the next release for this? It looked very promising!
Thanks,
Chris -
Yeah! Bump again BTW! The latest one works really well, but we're eager to see what next!
Thanks!

Scripted a hybrid transmission well actually this has been a Work in progress for an while now. It is based off of the Allison EP40 transmission with two modes.
Just a little break down as to how the script works:
The first mode is when Motor A does much of the acceleration from 0-10 mph, as the traction motors reaches speeds above 10 mph/depending on the battery charge the motor will fade out completely, therefore the diesel would kick in until the bus reaches the second mode/gear. Once in the second mode, motor B will kick in. The script hybrid uses torque data a Remy 250 motor, not entirely too sure if Allison used that vendor for the EP40 but they have dealt with Remy in the past.
Allison has released an "theory of operation" ( http://portal1.cdta.org/mainte…eory%20of%20Operation.pdf ). I tried my best to simulate the bus based off of that information. The calculation of the traction motor RPM (n) uses the driveshaft rpm and gear ratio as a function in order to compute the traction motor rpm (n). I then took the curve for the Remy 250 and used that to compute the torque (m). The hybrid has a CVT transmission which automatically adapts the gear ratio to the terrain and engine load as well as the performance setting of the hybrid propulsion system. Sometimes the bus will run more on electric and other times it would blend more of the diesel in. It all depend on the not only the performance setting but the parasitic load on the engine (A/C, Power steering losses, Engine Fan, passenger load, and ambient temperature).
Slow down is even more interesting. The hybrid system has a "engine brake" much similar to that of an Jacobs on an MCI. It's purpose is to slow the vehicle down. The bus is equipped with a regenerative brake as well. It is commonly misunderstood that when the engine revs up as slowing down, that the bus is in regenerating, that's not entirely true. The regenerative brake uses the bus momentum to slow down at an preselect rate selected at dictated rate. If the deceleration is not "cutting it" with the values found on the deceleration chart or when, that's when the engine would rev up. As the engine revs up, the gear ratio on the CVT transmission would increase as well as result assisting the bus in slowing down.

This sounds ideal for my model variant. There's a script
floating around for engine cut out during idle, will this work with your script? So as you pull away from a bus stop you run on battery power then the motor cuts in until the next bus
stop? Or a better scenario if you're sitting in traffic, the motor cuts out after a certain time?I'll have to test it completely to see myself but in theory, will this be possible?
Regards
-
That is possible but this setup does not shut the engine off during idle.
-
Thanks, i'll try it out.
Can i use this for the NL202 RLB
mod? Or are the engine script characteristics different? -
Any idea when we can have the new version? Some of us are quite eager to see how good it is!
-
Can i used this mode in every models or in which models work this mode?
Sorry for my bad english.

Geht das hier noch weiter?
Wäre echt super!
Freue mich auf den Solaris Hybrid Mod! -
das würde mich auch mal interessieren

Hi, it would be very nice if you can make a Allison MD3060 or ND3060 (don't know whether MD oder ND but I think MD) gearbox for the Mercedes-Benz Citaro of Morphi with the V3.5-Soundpack? That would make me very happy.
Have a nice day!EDIT: I mean the gearbox which is build in Mercedes-Benz Econic.

slow down sounds exactly like our flyers. good job

did the author cease to update this mod?
I'm still looking forward to seeing the engine start-stop function in OMSI -

Not too sure on the answer to that, but Morphi just released a Hybrid Solaris Urbino 12 mod...

No the script isnt dead, I am still working on it. The latest variant has been released on the Chicago City Bus addon.
Basically spent the last two years doing this:
The script is more based off of techie papers from Allison and Remy [the vendor whom supplies the traction motors]. Two mode setup with a EVT transmission. The hybrid transmission which came with this bus by default functions more like a BAE series hybrids versus Allison.
The Regen braking depending on request deceleration - amount of torque available to from the engine brake, and proposal system.
The acceleration is dependent on the ratios of the EVT transmission weigh against available traction motor torque, battery drain, final drive ratio, weight, tires, rolling coefficient, drag resistance, ambient temperature, combined with the request acceleration curve [Based on Altoona bus website] with 5 different performance settings.

I will make a Solaris U12/U18 adaptation of this script as well. Morphi's script seems to be more a series hybrid script with the battery being regenerated based off of the engine. This script however is parallel combined with some series aspects to it.
I do know that the Solaris U18 uses the Allison EV drive.

Could you make this bus for OMSI 2?
-
I have made more recent devolopments to this script - anyone interested?
