  • Well I've explained in the other thread my methods on getting sounds into the simulator. Hopefully someone on this forum will take it and perfect upon that. I have no idea how to create a flatten out sound of a whine, yet still retain its pitch. Even if I were to slow down the sound, then the pitch of the sound would change.

Don't count on me on releasing one million different kinds of sound variants, I just do not have the time for that!! I do not mind helping if it means to create new sound triggers and whatnot, but audio editing isn't my niche. I can point people towards the variables which usually are needed to control the sounds, but that should be pretty self explanatory as outlined within the sound.cfg files.

Now to make an absolute understanding, the sound of the Ecomat Iis is not based off of the Sl202. However, they are based off of the SEPTA 2004 New Flyer buses with the ZF 6HP-592, sorry for the fail but given to the sounds I already have, they better fit that of an New Flyer. I love to use the sounds of the sl202, but the whole thing is, getting OMSI to reiterate these sounds is a pain in the butt. I simply lack the experience and knowledge in sound editing to take a dynamic pitch of sound and localized it to just a constant single pitch. Doing a engine sound file is way more simple considering all you need is loaded sounds, and unloaded sounds (When the bus is not accelerating).

  • If i want to use the AP2000, it does not work and i got errors, but with the included bus AP1400, everything works fine.
But sometimes the gear slips to "N" or the whole enigne gets down.

  • Hi !

    ^^

I installed the 1.02 release, but everytime I select a ZF bus I get an error message saying " Data not found "

. It's weird because the 1.01 release was perfectly working. I reinstalled both OMSI and the mod, and I still have the same error

Does anybody has a solution ?

    Thank you

    ;)
  • Beautiful work! The only thing I miss is a real ZF 6 HP 604 alias ZF Ecomat IV. If you are going to add this transmission, please take the characteristic sounds of the ZF 6 HP 604.

    Would be happy

    :)

Here a 'little' taste of the original ZF 6 HP 604 sounds on a MAN Lion's City:

Would like to show a YouTube Video, but it does'nt fit ...

    :(

  • Just link the sound up without the http:// included within the link, for some reason there is some kind of server error every time when I try to post something with an "http://" present in the post. Not entirely sure why, though.

  • By the way, I know some buses with ZF which lock up in second without kickdown and in first when the kickdown is used. Could you try to implement this as well? The buses that I know are fitted with ZF4HP500 and ZF5HP500 gearboxes.

    :)

Actually I can make the transmission fully customizable to anyone's needs, but one thing which I have noticed is that as I am adding more features to it, people are reverting back to using the versions of yesteryear with very little feedback. My guess is that when people install the transmission script onto the bus, there are many more values in the latest script now which needs to be adjusted and calibrated just for that bus. That's how it is though, the transmission ecu gets programmed to fulfill the customer needs.

This project is really an work in progress project with nothing set in stone.

When I first started the project, we only had the Man Sd200 and SD202 series to work with. So everything had to be played as if these buses had these engines or transmissions. The only transmission which these buses has were the Man D2566/Voith 851.3 transmission. That alone is a downsize to what most recently buses used.

Now since there are now actually buses out there that actually uses the Ecomat, a full Ecomat or Ecolife bus can be implemented into the simulator.

When it comes to feedback, I often see what is wrong, but where are things going right so I do not need to change anything around in the future versions. So people would not have to use these previous versions which i thought were inferior. However, there is nothing more worst then no feedback at all.

  • i saw a couple other video's of you. i like the ikarus 415 with the detroit diesel enginge. i thought the detroit's were always screaming like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnN1i9LjAw0

I wished we had American buses in OMSI so I could put a 8v71 or 6v92 onto it. I could do a drag bus mod with a 12v71

What got me into this hobby in the first place were the older buses around here which were the Neoplan An440s which had 6v92/HT740 or 747 transmission. I love the two cycle Detroit, there are only a few of them which remains around here. Now days, they are mainly found on some fire apparatus and some older MCI Coaches.

  • I understand the 'problem' and I know it's an awful lot of work. But I've to say that you improved the scripts really well with the latest version(s), shifting patterns are realistic to me and many variables are easy to change for the 'end-user'. I really like to play around with it and 'get' the gearbox that I want.

    :)

When somewhere in the future a new versions is coming up, I'll try to give some good feedback which is usable.

    :)
  • Okey

    ;)

That's a ZF Ecomat IV 6 HP 604 C on a MAN Lion's City, enjoy this beautiful sound!

Well if someone can extract nice and clear sounds from it, then I would implement it into the mod. Right now, it is difficult just to isolate the pitch without interfering with the engine or hub sounds.

Does anyone here has a clear recording of just the ZF transmission sound with a very little hub/engine sounds ?

  • SL200

Couldn't find any SL202 sounds which could remotely be rendered usable in OMSI, however, I did use an NL202 sound instead which also is a Ecomat 5HP-400.

    Here's an video -

Did some revision to the Ecomat script (500, 590, 600)
-Added retarder cutout sounds to the script

I'm pretty happy with it, sounds kinda like our older Neoplans An440, but one thing I've just realized is that the 6v92 on our older Neoplans drowned out some of the gearbox sounds though. The issue with getting many of these sounds within OMSI is to try to "undrown" out sounds by localizing the pitch. Even when the pitch is localized, the sound can still fluctuate in its pure form (When played within windows media player), however, in OMSI the fluctuation may or may not be heard.

    Quoted from "datoneer"

The problem with that clip is that the engine sound drowns out the gearwhine for the most part, the only usable audio which could be used is the shift between 2nd and 3rd and perhaps 5th or 6th gear. This bus accelerates too fast to try to get an remotely decent sample. I may bring back the Ecomat IV D20 bus though which pose me to ask this question though.

Does anyone has any D2066 sounds though which are not in gear, but revving up and down at certain point ?

Anyways for the future version, redid the retarder script. Before, the script used assumed that the retarder was replaced after the gearing housing. After reading a document which tries to simulate the ZF Ecomat (http://uu.diva-portal.org/smash/get/diva2:411595/FULLTEXT01), it appears that the retarder is mounted before the gearing. Therefore even the gearing of the bus could effect the retarding. So I adjusted the retarder using a formula from that document. So far, it works pretty well. This solves 90% of the times where even when a sharper brake was applied that the ABS would come on. Included in the new future versions is a value to adjust how strong the retarder is with three modes.

  • Hello krtz07,
I don´t know if you know it,but here in Germany the ZF Ecomat 1 in the O 405 N² has "neutral by stillstand"-sound.
So is it possible that you can script a ZF 4 HP 500 for the O 405 N² 3 doors with nbs and such a sound like that one?

Sure, creating a sound of the NBS is not too hard, just take the recording simple and perhaps set an equalization curve to isolate the sound a tad more so that the sound of the engine does not diffused the whine sound.

Anyways the sounds on the SD83 has been redone again as some has noticed. The whine is way more clearer with less "clipping" sounds versus the previous versions. Even an slightly variation in pitch in a recording can cause the sound to clip. Also, added an retarder release sound to the SD83 as well.

  • The SD83 ZF is amazing i miss these SL200 they have been gone for over year now in our city
Also what recording devices good for buses as my city has a lot MAN SL202, ZF, Voith and CNG ZF

  • This is how the buses with a ZF gearbox should whine in my opinion!

I hope that you will release these great sounds.
