Mercedes O405N2 Ver 2.7.0 (updated April 28th) Overhaul MOD – Sounds + Performance
This is the 2.7.0 update. This mod is a community project. The wonderful work of storm348 and BahnFan2014 was integrated into the mod, making this a community effort. Anyone who has ideas implemented (that means already coded and working) that make the model better are very welcome to suggest them into this project, and maybe they will be integrated into the next update!
I know I said before that I won't be updating this model anymore, but as the new models are taking longer than I thought arriving, I figured I'll tweak this one some more for now.
All sounds in this mod are completely redone, using especially recorded new sounds in tandem with some of krtz07's ZF sounds. The variants of the bus are now as follows:
- O405N2 U (Regional) - Uses the 250hp turbocharged engine, with a ZF 5HP-592 gearbox. Max speed - 100kph.
- O405N2 (City) - Uses the 250hp turbocharged engine, with a ZF 5HP-500 gearbox. Max speed - around 80kph.
- O405N2 (Older) - Uses the 210hp naturally aspirated engine, with a ZF-5HP-500 gearbox. Max speed - about 90kph.
Since I have little experience with the O405N2, as we don't have them here, I based my performance tweaks on a couple of O405's: the "New" variant is based on a 1997 O405 MkII (which is turbocharged), and the "Older" version is based on a 1993 O405 MkI, which is not turbocharged. The engine sounds are now separate, recorded off their respective prototypes.

V2.7.0 tweaks include:
- NEW: New gearbox config for both the regional and city versions, regional now has 5 gears rather than 6 (still capable of reaching 100 kph). The tweak is based on experiences with an O405U and should be more realistic.
- NEW: New sounds for the ZF gear whine and upshifts, also some tweaks to the motor sounds, there are still some tweaks to be done - hopefully in the next version
V2.6.0 and older versions tweaks include:
- New steering wheel by KAMAZ
- Some new sound tweaks, a couple of new engine sounds added for the turbo versions, sound is now more bassy and thick
- Cleaned up all of the ZF sounds, turbo sound and some other sounds of unnecessary engine noise with state-of-the-art studio equipment
- Updated door scripts: now the front door is mainswitch-independent, and the older version of the bus now has the warning chime from the rear door removed
- Small Performance Tweaks
- Two new repaints - VKL (Bad Kinzau) repaint by me and MOVIA Greek repaint by ethel212oasa.[b]- Properly working stop request chime (different for the older and newer variants!), by Storm348
- All-new door scripts by Storm348, 3rd door now has a buzzer
- Working kneeling script for all variants, by BahnFan2014
- New performance figures for the "U" (regional) version
- New "City" version, with a shorter gearbox
- New sounds for the turbocharged versions, also kickdown now implemented
- Bugfix: Heating now works as it should
- Stop request lamp moved to it's correct position
- Two repaints for Berlin: Standard (yellow) and the old Beige one
- An "Older" variation of the bus, using a weaker engine and an older gearbox.
- WORKING FUNCTIONAL STOP REQUEST LIGHT on the dashboard
- Newspaper removed
- Interior somewhat repainted, to get rid of them poo-colored brown bits
- New viewing angles for turning one's head - they are more level now, and don't jump around to make your head spin.
- Restored original IBIS skin, instead of the polish one.
The things tat are on my list but I didn't get around to yet:
- External engine sounds for the turbocharged version other than the neutral sound: I wasn't able to record most external sounds for the MkII version, as it was very windy on the day we were recording it. We only managed to capture the neutral sound without wind noise, the rest came out unusable, so the external sounds of the turbocharged variant are lifted off the naturally aspirated MkI variant for now.
- Some whining ZF noises are not 100% right yet, need to add the fifth gear whine
- The stuck accelerator in high-revs of torque converter when downshifting - looking into it, haven't found a solution yet. Anyway, if you get it, a short press of the gas pedal cures it, so it's not such a big deal...

There are two downloads: the first is the complete bus with all the new sounds and improvements. If you are coming from any other version than the V2.5 overhaul mod, please erase your previous "Mercedes_new" folder and replace it with the one from the archive (or overwrite the files if you have 2.0 or 2.1). If you already have the v2.5 mod or 2.5.1 mod, you can download the update file that will update the version to 2.6.0.
Complete Package:
Mercedes O405N2 V2.6.0, with new sounds and performance, and all tweaks.
Installation: Put the "Mercedes_New" folder inside your omsi\vehicles folder, create a new bus, select "Mercedes-Benz" from the vehicle list, select your preferred variant and paintjob and drive
If you're updating from an older version, then overwrite your Mercedes_New folder (if you have a version under 2.0, then delete that folder altogether and then put the new one it it's place).
To have working announcements, do not forget to put the announcement files inside the Sound\Ansagen folder!
Please note: this model has three separate doors, all controlled individually. To add controls for the third door, assign a button for "KY_bus_doorfront3" to your controller configuration (or keyboard).

2.5 - Fixed some bugs, added a new variant ("City" version, with a 5HP gearbox), and - once again - some NEW ORIGINAL sounds, recorded off a O405MkII, for the turbocharged variants of the model. It also updated Krtz07's wonderful ZF scripts to their latest version, and added his great turbocharger script into the engine, complete with a turbo sound. Also, the two turbocharged variants now have completely new engine performance tuning, based on throwing around a O405 MkII about a parking lot at top speed, to see what one can really do.
